Scandalous alum Andrew Samonsky will assume the role of Neville Landless in The Mystery of Edwin Drood on February 12, replacing original cast member Andy Karl, who will play his last performance on February 10.
Neville and his twin Helen are two of the suspects in the murderous cast of characters in Edwin Drood, which is based on Charles Dickens’ final unfinished novel. The Rupert Holmes musical allows the audience to vote for whom they believe to be responsible for the mysterious disappearance of a young man named Edwin Drood.
Chita Rivera, Stephanie J. Block, Will Chase, Gregg Edelman, Jim Norton and Jessie Mueller star in the first Broadway revival of the 1985 Tony Award-winning musical. Original cast member Betsy Wolfe will also be departing on February 10—she will be replaced by Erin Davie.
Drood also stars Nicholas Barasch, Peter Benson and Robert Creighton, with an ensemble that includes Alison Cimmet, Nick Corley, Janine DiVita, Jenifer Foote, Justin Greer, Shannon Lewis, Spencer Plachy, Kiira Schmidt, Eric Sciotto and Jim Walton. The musical plays a limited engagement at Studio 54 through March 10.
Samonsky most recently appeared on Broadway in Scandalous (as Kenneth Ormisten) and South Pacific (as Lt. Cable). He will also appear in the City Center Encores! production of Fiorello! His off-Broadway credits include Queen of the Mist and Encores! Merrily We Roll Along.
